Abstract: — The pollutant presence in hospital is regulated for biological and environmental risk monitoring. Typically, biological and chemical samplers are used to obtain information about air quality and air biological contamination according to European policy and regulations. Currently, air quality data are available to the hospital direction after a few weeks from environmental sampling. In this paper the results of a real-time monitoring obtained using Taguchi Gas Sensors are presented. In a following phase anesthetic gases such as VOCs, CO2, CO were traced in three operating rooms; therefore these pollutants can result from inhalant anesthetic agents into the surgery area but they can be also of environmental origin. From all tests it is clear that the device is valid for the characteristics of sensitivity, accuracy and precision because it can detect the presence/absence of pollutants in a given location.
