Abstract: The article deals with a new e-learning design approach to obtain better performance of existing functionalities of a LMS platform thanks to artificial intelligence (AI). The work has referred to an agent-based system providing information support for students and instructors within the context of a virtual classroom seen, however, from an auction perspective. The main goal is to improve the usability and maintenance of an e-learning environment used in the framework of research project previously. The proposal is to combine different technologies in order to support the student with first-level interventions, and above all the teacher / instructor in monitoring, planning and redesigning courses aimed at advanced learning and knowledge activities within the framework of distance education environments. The technologies integrated in this design are: web 2.0, intelligent agents, task-based monitoring systems.
